Kumkum Bhagya actress Sriti Jha, who shot to fame with her character ‘Pragya’, is not just known for her acting chops in television shows, she is also known for often showcasing her poetic side. The actress is multi-talented and has a way with words, brilliantly putting forth her point through poems. In 2019, a video of her poem about being lesbian in India at Spoken Fest, had gone viral on social media. Last year, in 2020, the actress once again came up with a new poem narrating what being asexual feels like.

While the terms homosexuality and bisexuality are mostly understood by most people in India, there’s one underrepresented and often ignored community that most people aren’t aware of- asexuals. Asexuality on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum is rarely talked about, and that is exactly what Sriti Jha touched upon in her poem ‘Confessions of an asexual romantic’ that she performed at Spoken Fest Mumbai 2020. The video has once again gone viral on social media now, and in the poetry, Sriti shared experiences, while urging people not to try to change or ‘fix’ them, and spoke about 'learning to lie in word and in moans'.

At the end of her poem, she sang, “I am asexual, I’m not the only one,” while people sang along with her. Check out her beautiful poem below:

Sriti Jha made her acting debut in television shows in 2007 in Disney India’s Dhoom Machao Dhoom, in which she played the role of Malini Sharma. She also played Suhani in the TV show Shaurya Aur Suhani. Sriti was also seen in Saubhagyavati Bhava.
