Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14 after hanging himself in his Bandra house. According to several reports, the actor was suffering from depression for the past few months before taking this drastic step. After his demise, most of his fans and friends were in a state of shock and expressed their grief on social media while a certain section on the internet was doing the blame game and even sparked off the nepotism debate, embroiling Sushant's death. Even Bollywood Kangana Ranaut who was the flagbearer of the nepotism debate expressed her rage on the same after Sushant's demise. Speaking of which, TV actor Karan Patel took an indirect dig at the actress in his recent interview with ET.
While talking to the online portal, Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 star called out to those people who simply started creating stories regarding the late actor and those who are nowhere related to Sushant. He was quoted saying, "From Abhinav Kashyap to any other small-time actor, everyone has jumped into it. And I see no reason for people to rant about nepotism. For example, an actress these days is talking about nepotism." Without mentioning her name, Patel took a jibe at Kangana by asking her why she didn't cast Sushant in her own production house. That's not it, he even mentioned Sonu Sood's case who was a part of her historical drama Manikarnika. He further quipped, "She first cast Sonu Sood and then later someone else, so she forgot about Sonu Sood. I have never seen her working with a new director or an actor."
Karan also mentioned that even she would be considering big banners, the producers, the studios backing the film before signing a film. "So, when you are running behind big studios then why are you blowing nepotism's trumpet. If you are that big-hearted and you have your own production house please go and pick a newcomer, a new director and work with him in his film as the heroine then we will talk and listen to you," he added.
Speaking about her sister taking care of her business, he asked her why she didn't hire an outsider or announce job interviews. “You have your own production house and your family members, your sister is taking care of your business, why didn’t you hire new people, an outsider and announce job interviews. Why didn’t you hire someone who had an MBA degree to look after your production house.” The actor then says that 'Nepotism is everywhere and it has been going on since ages.'
