Television
actor Karan Oberoi rape case is making headlines every now and then for
different reasons. As the actor is spending his days in jail, his complainant
has been accused of planning an attack on herself. As we all know, the
complainant, who is an astrologer by profession, was attacked by two unknown
bikers for attacking her when she was out on Morning walk on May 25. On May 31,
we then report that Mumbai Police nabbed four people for their involvement in
the attack. Later on Saturday, we reported about the twist in the tale and it
was said that the attack on the woman was reportedly ordered by her lawyer, Ali
Kaashif Khan.
But here’s another
turn in the case. According to a latest report in TOI, the woman had “directed”
the May 25 attack on herself. Mumbai based advocate Hitesh Jain said that “she ought
to be arrested “forthwith” by the police.
Talking
about it, Karan Oberoi’s lawyer Dinesh Tiwari said, “It is a rare case where a
lawyer has been accused of indulging in criminal activity and has surrendered. It
is elementary knowledge that a lawyer would be acting on instructions of his
client, but these cannot go beyond legal activities. The limited question is,
who asked him to do it? If he (lawyer) is now saying it was his client, the
first informant, she should be made an accused.”
Reportedly,
two lawyers argued on her behalf to oppose the actor’s bail plea in the rape
case- Ali Kaashif Khan and Sheetal Pandya.
Sheetal told
TOI “Since the past few days, I have not been in touch with her. She has not
approached me either for appearing as her lawyer in his (Oberoi’s) bail plea
hearing in Bombay high court. But soon after the sessions court’s bail
rejection order, we had discussed that she needs to engage a senior counsel for
any appeal that Oberoi may file in HC for bail.”
