How
can a film reach Britain and get a certificate before it is censored in India?
Is it legal to send it out before the CBFC certificate? That's the talk in
trade circles as far as Kapil Sharma's upcoming film Firangi is concerned.
It is believed that Team Firangi sent it out to the British censors via online. Aisi bhi kya jaldi hai, does it increase chance of piracy happening when you transfer your content online?
Kapil Sharma In Firangi
So,
this not-so-funny (anymore) man sent Firangi to the UK and got a Censor
Certificate from the Censors so that his film can release there, smoothly.
But
what about the Censor certificate here in India? SpotboyE.com has it that the
Prasoon Joshi led CBFC has not yet had a screening.
Firangi screening
is slated with CBFC for Thursday. The latest news
coming in is that it will now not release on November 24 but December 1. The reason for the delay is not yet known.
Kapil Sharma And Ishita Dutta In Firangi
It cannot be the
68-day rule that CBFC imposed recently. Firangi will not complete 68 days
submission on December 1 anyway.
Coming back to the Britain part, while a few sources say that it is illegal to send out your film to get a CEnsor certificate from foreign lands before your own country has given you one, a few others say that Kapil has done no wrong.
Kapil Sharma In The Song Oye Firangi
Last
night, trade analyst Taran Adarsh put out a tweet which read as seen
below:
#Firangi certified PG by British censors on 17 Nov 2017. Approved run time: 158 min 10 sec [2 hours, 38 minutes, 10 seconds].

We
sent a text to Kapil Sharma and the Firangi PR if Kapil's export was legal- but
they both chose to NOT respond.
Ditto
for the current CBFC Chairman Prasoon Joshi.
