Veteran actress Rajeeta Kochhar has left for her heavenly abode at the age of 70. She breathed her last on Friday in Mumbai. According to reports, she passed away due to renal failure. Confirming the news, during an interaction with ETimes, her niece recalled that the senior actress had suffered from a brain stroke last year, after which she also suffered from paralysis.
Speaking to the entertainment portal, Nupur Kampani, Kochhar’s niece shared that the actress was admitted in the hospital on December 20 because she complained of breathlessness and stomach pain. She said, “She had a brain stroke in September last year, following which she suffered from paralysis. However, she gradually got better but on Tuesday (December 20), she complained of breathlessness and stomach pain. So, we got her admitted to a hospital. Her health deteriorated yesterday, and she had to be put on a ventilator. She passed away around 10.15 pm.”
Kampani recalled the last conversation she had with her aunt. She said, “When I met her in the evening of December 23, she held my hand and thanked me for everything. I told her that she had to live for me, and she gave me a thumbs up. That was the last conversation we had. I feel she knew that she was going.”
She went on to express that the veteran was more of her mother figure to her that her own mom. She was fondly addressed as Maa even by her co-stars. She went on to explain that the suo took care of each other. Recalling her love for movies and plays, Nupur said, “She was someone who never troubled anybody. She loved her movies, plays and her co-actors. They were her life. She stopped working after she suffered from a brain stroke last September.”
Nupur went on to reveal that the late actress was selfless, full of life and passionate about her career. She never spoke ill about anyone and only spread love and positivity wherever she went.
For the unversed, Rajeeta Kochhar was a part of many TV shows like Tantra, Kavach…Kaali Shaktiyon Se, Hatim, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and movies like Piya Ka Ghar and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. She left behind a legacy that will be remembered by many. She is survived by her husband Rajesh Kochhar and daughter Kapisha, who is settled in the US.
