Indian Idol 12 announced Pawandeep Rajan as its winner on August 15, 2021. Nihal Tauro, Shanmukhapriya, Arunita Kanjilal, Sayli Kambli and Mohd Danish were the other five finalists. These six singers had by the time acquired great popularity and fame owing to them being superlative at their art. Many fans even said all six of them should be honoured with the title and the trophy.

Shanmukhapriya, who ended up in sixth place, also thinks the same. However, if given the power, she would have made herself the winner. The singer, in her latest conversation with Etimes TV, spoke about who she expected to win, and a lot more. “The finale was my last performance and I wanted to give my 100 per cent. So I was immersed in my preparation. I think each one of us in the Top Six was unique in his/her own way," she said. When asked who she expected to lift the trophy between Pawandeep Rajan and Arunita Kanjilal, she took the former's name as he was leading with the maximum number of votes for quite some time.

Shanmukhapriya was then asked who she thought should have won. She said, “If I was to cast one vote (to choose the 'Indian Idol 12' winner), I would cast it for myself.”

For the unversed, Shanmukhapriya was heavily criticised for her singing style. When asked about this, she replied, “Well, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. Moreover, I am ready to get better and better. Frankly, initially I didn't know what was going on in social media. Later when a well-wisher told me, I felt that everybody is entitled to have an opinion as I am on a public stage.” ALSO READ: Indian Idol Season 5 Winner Sreerama Chandra Says He Was Supporting Indian Idol 12 Finalist Shanmukhapriya
