Despite all the controversies, the contestants of Indian Idol 12 are managing to impress each and everyone with their powerful performances, especially the guest judges. The recent ones to grace the show were filmmaker Omung Kumar and music composer Bappi Lahiri. The two were impressed with everyone; however, there was one contestant who amazed Omung a little more, and she is Shanmukhapriya. She gave a banging performance by singing Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja and Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba.
The Mary Kom director heaped praises for her and then offered Shanmukhapriya to sing for his film. "I like your style and admire your talent which is why I want to collaborate with you for a whole film and not just one song! If the film never sees the light of the day, I will take your songs and make the film because that is how fabulous a singer you are. I am glad to have heard you live and I hope that I can give you a nice and beautiful song to sing in the future," he said. That’s not all, Kumar who is a terrific artist as well drew Shanmukhapriya’s sketch in less than 5 mins and presented it to her.
An elated Shanmukha said, "I am overwhelmed and all kinds of happy with Omung Kumar Sir’s compliments. The fact that he wants to collaborate with me in the future is a big deal.”
"Not only this, I also feel honoured that he drew a sketch for me in less than five minutes. It was really great meeting such a humble yet talented personality on the show. I feel emotional about the love and affection I receive for my work and it inspires me to never settle and work even harder towards achieving my goals," she added.
Shanmukhapriya is one of the most criticised contestants of Indian Idol 12. Netizens have been demanding her elimination. Moreover, when Anjali Gaikwad and Ashish Kulkarni were evicted over her, netizens called it a biased decision.
Amidst all the criticism, she reacted to the hatred and said, “I tried to take the trolls with a pinch of salt,” adding that even the greatest of the artists in the likes of Michael Jackson had to endure criticism.
