The non-payment of dues for the starcast and unit of Hamari Bahu Silk has now led to a silent protest outside producer Devyani Rale's house at Yari Road, Mumbai. Despite shooting for 7 months, the HBS unit has been paid for only for a month. For quite some time, the lead actor Zaan Khan and actress Chahat Pandey have been requesting the makers to clear their dues, but the makers reportedly haven't paid heed to their requests. Even as producer Jyoti Gupta says that she is the real ‘victim’, Zaan along with other members of the show have been taking to social media to request makers to release their payments.
Yesterday, leading actor Zaan Khan led the silent protest along with other crew members of Hamari Bahu Silk. Chahat, who’s currently at her hometown Damoh, Madhya Pradesh told Times Of India, “Zaan has no option left now but to do something to get us the money. If I was in Mumbai, I would have been there with him. The protest is justified. All our pleas have fallen on deaf ears.” Parag Chadha, casting director of the show, joined the protests too.
He told TOI, "We managed to locate Devyani's building with immense difficulty. Learning that we are below her building, she has switched off her phone. Now, Zaan and Rahul (the show's director) have gone inside the building to talk to the Secretary.”
