Gurucharan Singh, who played the beloved character Roshan Sodhi on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently opened up about his experiences on the show, particularly his abrupt replacement in 2012. Gurucharan expressed that he had always considered the cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as his family, which made the replacement even more painful. He mentioned that despite feeling hurt, he chose not to speak ill of the show or its makers. The decision to replace him was met with significant backlash, not only from him but also from the show's audience. Gurucharan recalled how fans expressed their disappointment and anger, urging him to return to the show. He shared how people at the gym and in public places would scold him, much like family members do, for leaving the show, even though it was not his decision.
Gurucharan also mentioned that his co-star Jennifer Mistry, who played his on-screen wife, was replaced in a similarly abrupt manner. Despite the initial shock and hurt, the strong response from fans led to Gurucharan being brought back to the show a year later. He continued in the role until 2020, becoming a beloved figure among the show's audience once again.
In the same interview, Gurucharan mentioned that he is currently seeking work in Mumbai, indicating that his journey in the entertainment industry is far from over. Despite the challenges and setbacks he faced, his passion for acting and his connection with the audience remain strong.
