Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Munmun Dutta using the word ‘Bhangi’ in of her videos has landed her in legal troubles. Earlier, she was booked under SC/ST act at Haryana’s Hansi. Furthermore, a case was registered at Haryana’s Police Station under Section 3(1) (u) of the SCs and STs Act. Reportedly, an FIR was also registered by Rajat Kalsan, convenor of the National Alliance for Dalit Human Rights. Now, the latest report suggests that an FIR has been filed against Munmun Dutta in Mumbai for using racial language in one of her videos.
Just recently, ANI new agency took to their Twitter handle to share a tweet on the same which read, “FIR registered against TV actor Munmun Dutta for posting a video with a casteist slur on social media: Mumbai Police.” This is not the first time where an FIR has been lodged against her. A similar thing has happened in states like Haryana, Indore and Madhya Pradesh after she was allegedly heard using a derogatory term in her YouTube video. For the unversed, in a video, Dutta who essays the role of Babita in TMKOC said that she uses minimum makeup whenever she has to step out, to avoid looking like a ‘Bhangi.’
This part of the video went viral on social media, due to which, Mr Kalsan filed a complaint saying, she allegedly made an objectionable comment against the Scheduled Cast.
Before the furore, she immediately issued an apology on her Instagram, an excerpt of it read, "Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning I immediately took the part down. I have utmost respect for every single person from every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our Society or nation.” ALSO READ: After Munmun Dutta, Yuvika Chaudhary Uses The Word 'Bhangi' In Her Latest Video; Twitterati Trends #ArrestYuvikaChaudhary
