The first season of the singing reality Indian Idol saw Anu Malik, Farah Khan and Sonu Nigam on the judge’s panel. Back then, Raghu Ram had auditioned for the show. He eventually left the judges unimpressed with his singing. After his performance, the judges shared their thoughts. At that time, Anu Malik’s reaction had not gone down well with Raghu Ram, who found the singer ‘rude’. Read about when Farah Khan once called a ‘hypocrite’ for getting upset over Anu Malik’s rude tone on Indian Idol season 1.

Raghu Ram featured in Farah Khan's directorial Tees Maar Khan. During the filming, he had refreshed the filmmaker’s memories of his viral Indian Idol audition. He showed Farah Khan the viral clip, however, the filmmaker couldn’t help but call him a ‘hypocrite. Speaking with Indian Express, Farah Khan recalled, “He showed it to me, and I said listen, you bloody hypocrite, you’ve been doing Roadies for so long where you are only shouting at people, abusing people, and threatening to do all sorts of things to them. So, why did you get so upset? But, I think it was fun to watch that and to know that ‘oh, he came on the show then.'"

For the unversed, Raghu Ram started his audition round by stretching first. He then went on and sang ‘Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo’ which left the judges unimpressed. They criticized his singing and also questioned Raghu about his stretching act, which he called a ‘problem’. Farah had then asked if it was a ‘singing problem’ to which Raghu said, “It’s a problem in my body, please don’t make fun of it.” Later, when Anu Malik mentioned that despite stretching his singing did not improve, Raghu questioned if the singer was not pleased with his song. To which, Anu Malik calmly replied, “Mere kehne ka matlab yeh hai ki aap gaa nahi sakte, mere hisaab se Mumbai nahi aa sakte.”

Raghu Ram, who wasn't pleased with Anu Malik's tone, told him, “Toh aap yeh baat tameez se bhi bol sakte hai.” He added, “I thought he was rude. I don’t like people being rude to me. I am sure you don’t like people being rude to you.” The throwback audition video clearly shows how the judges only shared their opinions. Meanwhile, later, Raghu Ram had said that the audition was a prank.
