Drashti Dhami is excited
about her upcoming show Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil, an NRI love story
with a twist. Instead of mansions and limousines, this show which will air on
Star Plus, looks at a middle class immigrant.
“ It is realistic and not over
the top drama. The show portrays what really happens between us and our
partners. There is logic to every scene. I don’t need to convince
myself about anything in the script, things just go with the flow," says
Drashti.
Drashti who has starred in hit shows
like Geet and Madhubala plays Naina, a middle class girl who
is doing a 9-5 job and is the sole bread earner of her
family. The story unfolds when she gets to Austria.
" You will need to watch the show to
know how she gets to Austria. Once there she comes across many people who
teach her a lot. She finally comes across her Mr. Right who
she initially perceives as Mr Wrong," says Drashti.

What about her co- star Arjun
Bijlani?
"We have many common friends
since he had worked in Mille Jab Hum Tum while I have done
Dill Mill Gaye. It was the same production house. So there is a
comfort level as we go back a long way," she says.
Talking about her recent 25 day stint
in Austria- France, Drashti says, “ It was an amazing trip, we
would work the whole day yet would not be tired due to the superb
weather and beautiful locations.(Vienna and Strasbourg). The
style of working there is quite different from here."
The show is based in cold Austria but she is
now shooting in humid Mumbai wearing mufflers and coats. But she is
happy to be back to her husband, Neeraj Khemka.
But doesn't the long schedule keep them
apart?
“ We get to spend time at home at night. He
is not at home in the day anyway as he too is working, " replies Drashti.

Ask her about her decision to quit her last
Zee TV show Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani,
she explains, " I am confident about my abilities and I took
the right decision after consulting my near and dear ones . Now
Neeraj can visit me on set, it was tough for him to come all the
way to Naigaon earlier. "
She obviously does not regret quitting that show
but does she have any regrets at all?
"My career has always been on a
high trajectory except the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa: 7 phase. It was
an experience which I don’t regret at all though," concludes Drashti.
