TV actor Dheeraj Dhoopar, who is currently seen playing the lead in the show ‘Sherdil Shergill’ has confirmed that it is going off-air in a week. The show, which was aired five months ago, failed to strike a chord with the audience. In a recent interview, Dheeraj opened up about the show going off air and revealed the goal was to make something different for the Indian television audience as it was a new subject and new age show. But unfortunately, they did not get the numbers and TRP for the show.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor said, “Yes our time was short. From the first day, the makers and actors were sure about the concept. Our goal was to make something different for the Indian television audience. It was a new subject and a new age show. We were hopeful that the show would create a benchmark. Sadly, we didn’t get the numbers and the business runs on that so they (the makers) had to pull out the plug.” ALSO READ: Kundali Bhagya's Dheeraj Dhoopar On TV Actors Getting Stereotyped; 'We Shouldn't Be Treated Like Pariah'
Dhoopar also mentioned he got emotional on the last day of the shoot. He felt sad that the show ended but every ending also means a new beginning. The 38-year-old went on to add that 'Sherdil Shergill' gave him a chance to play a new character, that of a stand-up comedian and it was for the first time he played something like this.
‘Sherdil Shergill’ featured Dheeraj opposite Surbhi Chandna and aired on Colors TV on 26 September 2022. Directed by Praveen Punia, the romantic drama series was created by Saurabh Tewari.
