Before joining Viacom, Nayak had formed his own advertisement sales company, Aidem Ventures. Prior to that, he worked as CEO for NDTV Media Ltd and headed it for seven years and at Star Plus for ten years, where he served as the executive vice-president, sales and marketing, responsible for marketing, strategy and packaging of all Star India channels and revenue for the group.
He has been credited with revolutionising advertisement sales in the Indian media and entertainment space. He has helped broaden the advertisement pie by bringing in several new and first-time advertisers on television. He has also lent his involvement in industry platforms including The Advertising Club, Indian Broadcasting Foundation, The International Advertising Association (IAA) - India Chapter, and Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).
