One of the most awaited shows on TV, Beyhadh 2 starring Jennifer Winget, Shivin Narang and Ashish Chowdhry is all set to premiere from tonight on Sony TV. Before the show goes on air, we spoke to actor Shivin Narang about the new season, his chemistry with Jennifer, comparisons with Kushal Tandon and much more.
What was your reaction when the makers approached you for Beyhadh 2?
I remember when the makers approached me for the show, the first question I asked them was ‘Will Jennifer Winget be there?’ They said yes. I got extremely excited but then couldn't confirm them at that point of time as I was already gearing up for Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 and was supposed to fly Bulgaria for the same. But I feel this role was destined to come to me because when I returned, they called me again and told me that they haven’t zeroed down on anyone.
So that's how you came on board for Beyhadh 2?
Not exactly! They wanted to do a mock shoot with the whole cast. And my first scene was with Jennifer Winget which came out really well in a single take. That gave me an assurance not only in my mind, but for makers as well, and finally, I was on board.
The first part Beyhadh was a woman centric show. Is the second part too on similar lines?
I haven't followed the previous season but have definitely heard all good things about it. Initially, it was not a woman centric show but yes, towards the end of the series, it was completely about Maya (Jennifer Winget). This time too, we are coming up with a story which is different and my character of Rudra is very challenging with a lot of layers to it.
After signing Beyhadh 2, did you watch the first part online?
No I intentionally didn't watch the first one because I wanted to keep everything fresh. The chemistry between me and Maya (Jennifer) will surprise fans and make them curious.
Ever since Beyhadh season 2 was announced, fans were dying to see Kushal Tandon opposite Jennifer again. Does this create any sort of pressure on you?
I don't feel any pressure because I am not replacing him. This kind of pressure comes when you step into someone else's shoes. Here the story-line and my character is newly introduced which has no connection with the previous season. And speaking of fans, well they always want to see their favourite TV Jodi again and again. For instance, my fans and followers of Surveen Guggal and Internet Wala Love request me to do a show with the same co-stars. I respect their feelings. I also know that comparisons will still happen and I’m ready. But at the same time, I know they will love this unseen, fresh jodi.
Yes, we also see how fans are liking and appreciating your look in the show…
Yes, fans are liking my look and I am receiving some really good comments. Before this show, I have generally played chocolate boy kind of characters of a Rockstar or an RJ. But this time it's an intense character and the look is totally different.
We hear you have learnt fencing for the show?
I have taken almost 2 months of training for the show. My introduction scene is with it so I am really excited because for the first time on Indian television something like this is happening.
