Ever since the lockdown has been imposed in the country, like us all right now, many celebrities have also locked themselves indoors to avoid the spread of the deadly virus. Actor Ritvik Dhanjani is one of the few who is at home and trying his best to stay connected with fans and past time as well. Since the past few weeks, Ritvik has been hitting headlines for his break up with long time girlfriend and Baarish actress Asha Negi, but the actor is currently focused on the crisis situation and people suffering. As the Coronavirus outbreak is affecting the country and its people, Ritvik voices out his opinion on Corona-shaming.
Speaking with Hindustan Times, Ritvik expressed his gratitude to all the people who continue to work for the safety of everyone during the pandemic and mentioned how it is not easy for the frontline workers. He said, “It isn’t easy for the ones working in pharmacies, grocery stores, the health care professionals and police officers. Some of them have been attacked and also subjected to corona-shaming.” Talking about Corona-shaming further and how people are being attacked, Asha Negi’s ex added, “My friend (Meiyang Chang), who is Indian Chinese, was also corona-shamed when two passers-by called ‘coronavirus’. That shows how shallow we still are as a society.”
While Ritvik Dhanjani shared an incident about his Indian Chinese friend being Corona-shamed, the actor went on to talk about how the people testing positive for COVID-19 also go through a lot of problems including societal pressure. He said, “They are being put through this fight not just against the virus but corona-shaming as well, where people can’t be sensitive in times like these.” Ritvik also shared that during these tough times, everyone must make sure they are kinder and compassionate, not towards just each other, but also towards nature.
