Madalsa Sharma’s recent departure from the popular television show Anupamaa has generated a lot of buzz among fans and within the industry. Known for her portrayal of Kavya, Madalsa opened up about her reasons for leaving the show in an interview with ETimes. Speculation arose that her exit was linked to the departure of her close friend and co-star, Sudhanshu Pandey. However, in an exclusive interview with LatestLY, Madalsa dismissed these rumors, making it clear that her decision to leave was a mutual agreement between her and the show's creators. She explained that her exit had been discussed well before Sudhanshu's, but she chose to announce it later.
Reflecting on her time in Anupamaa, Madalsa shared that her decision to move on was driven by a sense that her character's arc had plateaued. Kavya, who had once brought significant upheaval into the life of the show's protagonist, Anupamaa, had been a key figure in the storyline. Kavya was portrayed as a strong and independent woman, unafraid to pursue a married man, Vanraj, which led to significant drama and transformation in the plot. However, according to Madalsa, over the past year, the narrative focus had shifted away from her character and the love triangle involving Vanraj, Kavya, and Anupamaa.
While Kavya had enjoyed tremendous growth earlier in the series, Madalsa felt that her role no longer carried the same weight, and the character’s journey had reached a natural end. "There was not much spark left in my character," she admitted, indicating that this sense of stagnation was a key factor in her decision to leave.
Encouragement from her family also played a role in her departure. Madalsa’s father-in-law, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, as well as her mother and husband, Mimoh Chakraborty, supported her decision, advising her to seek new opportunities that would contribute to her personal and professional growth. This family backing ultimately reassured her that it was the right time to move on and explore fresh projects.
