Akanksha Puri, who started her career in South, soon managed to bag a big project in Bollywood as she made her Bollywood debut with Madhur Bhandarkar's Calendar Girls in 2015. However, even after getting a good launch we didn't see Akanksha doing much of work in that space and later she became the face of TV with her portrayal of Parvati in Sony TV's Vighnaharta Ganesha in 2017. But do you know Akanksha had not planned her film debut and the film just happened to her.
In an exclusive conversation with SpotboyE.com, Akanksha opened up about her journey from Bollywood to television and now how she is gearing up for her digital debut. Akanksha told us, "I was doing films in the South. During that time, I got to be part of Madhur Bhandarkar's Calendar Girls. I played Nandita Menon in the film who was a South Indian girl. When Madhur Sir called me for the meeting I was already doing a film with Mammooty Sir in South. So he was under the impression that I am a South Indian girl and my looks are apt for that character. But when he met me I told him that I am not from the South, I am just working in that industry. But I got the part. It just happened. And after that I was not getting calls for the kind of project I was looking for. Majorly erotic and glamarous roles were being offered to me. So, mujhe aisa laga aisi movie karna jo aap kar rahe ho bas karne ke liye ise better hai ki aap kisi number one channel ka number one show kare. Because at the end of the day your work speaks. And I wanted to do something different and show the world that I can also do non glamarous and non erotic films." Akanksha goes on revealing, "TV shows were getting offered to me. So, I thought instead of doing a film just for the hack of it, it's better I should take up the TV show. Although I didn't audition for Vignharata Ganesha. I had auditioned for Colors TV's Mahakali and got selected but then that show got postponed for 6-8 months. And this show was happening just after three months. So, this happened first or else I must have been doing Mahakali."
Akanksha is soon making her digital debut with Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda titled 'Inspector Avinash'. Set in Uttar Pradesh, Inspector Avinash is inspired by the life of police officer Avinash Mishra and also stars Rajniesh Duggall and Urvashi Rautela in important roles.
