In times of quarantine, Doordarshan is making our lives easy. While we are already bored watching all the web-shows that OTT platforms are throwing at us, Doordarshan is making us drive down the memory lane by re-running all the old shows that once made our television viewing experience super special. After mythological shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat, the Central Government has planned to bring back a few more old shows on Television. As per the latest reports, shows like Shriman Shrimati, Chanakya and Shaktimaan are making a comeback.
In a statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that Doordarshan will be retelecasting five shows — Chanakya, Upanishad Ganga, Shaktimaan, Shriman Shrimati, and Krishna Kali, as reported by news agency PTI. While we were aware of Shaktimaan show with Mukesh Khanna as the lead re-running on TV, the news of Shriman Shrimati, Chanakya, Krishna Kali and Upanishad Ganga has come as a surprise. The shows are supposed to make a comeback from the first week of April.
Apart from these shows, reports also suggest that Shah Rukh Khan's television show Circus will also make a comeback on TV. Even Detective Byomkesh Bakshi will be re-run on Doordarshan. The announcement of this detective based show coming back was made by Doordarshan on its official Twitter handle.
We can't wait for these shows to make a comeback. Social media exploded when Ramayan and Mahabharat's episodes re-ran on Doordarshan and we are expecting the same result for other shows.
