Singer Sona Mohapatra accused music composer, Anu Malik of sexual harassment, during the #MeToo movement. The news went viral in no time and the music composer and singer Anu Malik had to step down from the position of a judge of singing reality show Indian Idol 11. Singer Shweta Pandit and Neha Bhasin had also accused Anu Malik with sexual harassment charges. But now in the recent development, the National Commission for Women (NWC) has closed the case filed against him “due to lack of communication/substantial evidence sought from the complainant”.

Reacting to the same, Sona Mohapatra took to social media to slam the National Commission Of Women for their decision. Calling them Cryptic, Sona wrote, “This is untrue @NCWIndia @sharmarekha. I have sent all reports collated, tried calling you & responded to all emails despite travelling. The commission has been cryptic, all mails one liners &I can only imagine how you would treat a woman in deep distress.” (ALSO READ: Indian Idol 11: Sona Mohapatra Slams Makers For Using Neha Kakkar’s ‘Kissing’ Video For Their Commercial Gain)

When Mumbai Mirror got in touch with Rekha Sharma, chairperson, NCW, she said, “Responding to a complaint, we wrote to the complainant. She said she was traveling and whenever she returns, she will visit us. We waited for around 45 days. We had also asked for some documents, but after that she never responded. The complainant had informed us that there are more women who have complaints against Anu Malik and we told her that they can also file a complaint with us but none of them have responded yet. This is not a permanent closure of the case. If the complainant comes forward or brings more evidence or submits any kind of document, we can reopen it.
