Actress and reality show host Gauahar Khan often takes to her official social media handle to comment on the happening in the country. Being an avid social media user, she stands by her words and shares glimpses of her personal and professional life. She recently took to her Instagram to slam a Bengaluru mall for denying a 60-year-old farmer entry into the mall because he was wearing a dhoti. Sharing a video of the incident by Brut India on Wednesday, she demanded that strict action must be taken against the mall.

She captioned the video, quoted by the Free Press Journal, “This is absolutely shameful. Strict action must be taken against the mall. This is India and we all must be proud of our culture.” The video details how the Karnataka farmer was denied entry into the mall as her was wearing a dhoti. Various media reports suggest that the farmer, from Haveri, visited the GT mall along with his wife and son to watch a film, however the security personnel denied him entry due to his ‘inappropriate’ attire. The media publication further reports that the farmer was asked to wear trousers instead of dhoti. Despite pleading with the management and the security, he wasn’t allowed to enter the mall. The incident sparked outrage and protests among the netizens. Many have called out the management of the mall for the rude behaviour of their security personelle. The mall’s management proceeded to issue an apology to the farmer and honoured him with a shawl as a gesture of reconciliation. Quoted by Free Press Journal, the mall in-charge said, “The security personnel made a grave mistake by denying entry based solely on clothing. We have instructed all staff to treat everyone equally, without discrimination based on attire, colour, or identity.”


For the unversed, Gauahar Khan tied the knot with her husband Zaid Darbar in December 2020 in the presence of their family and friends at ITC Maratha, Mumbai. Two years later, they announced their first pregnancy leaving fans excited. They had taken to their social media accounts to post an animated video sharing the good news. They are proud parents to their son Zeehan.
