On the occasion of his grandfather N. T. Rama Rao's 98th birth anniversary, actor Nandamuri Kalyan Ram released the first title teaser and poster of the film. Titled Bimbisara, the actor is seen as a barbaric king; Kalyan Ram holds a sword that has blood stains and is seated above a pool of dead bodies. A period film, it also involves the time travel concept and is high on VFX. Bimbisara will mark Kalyan Ram’s 18th film, taking to his Twitter account the actor shared, "In a mythical land lost to history, there lived a barbarian King. This is his tale."

Ram is actor Jr NTR's elder brother and is best known for his roles in action films such as Athanokkade, Hare Ram, and 118. He is also the owner of the production company N. T. R. Arts, named after his grandfather. Speaking about the film the team said, “We have started the shooting of the film last year. We are making the film with high technical values and involves a lot of graphic works. Huge sets were erected for this film and it is going to be a big-budget film in Kalyan Ram’s career. Currently, the shooting is stalled due to the Covid-19 and once things normalize, the works resume. We are planning to release the movie in the second half of this year.”
Mounted on a high budget the film is produced by Hari Krishna K under the NTR Arts banner and the music is given by Chirantan Bhatt. Ram's last release was in 2020 titled Entha Manchivaadavuraa which was directed by Satish Vegesna of Sathamanam Bhavati fame. It was an official remake of the Gujarati-language film Oxygen.
