The definition of an icon is a persona that a large number of people look up to. Indian cinema has seen many stalwarts evolve into icons - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan to name a few. Walking the same path, Allu Arjun has transcended language barriers through his contribution to Telugu cinema that has gained popularity worldwide. His upcoming mega pan-India film Pushpa marks his third collaboration with filmmaker Sukumar. The director has witnessed the evolution of the phenomenon that is Allu Arjun up close over the years and he thought it was time to honour him as an Icon Staar, befitting the growth of his body of work.

As the trend in the South Indian film industry stipulates for stars to have a descriptor before their name, Allu Arjun has now been honoured as Icon Staar. The actor was lovingly referred to as the Stylish Star by the film industry insiders and his fans for the longest time. On the occasion of the unveiling of 'The Introduction Of Pushpa Raj', Allu Arjun was titled Icon Staar by filmmaker Sukumar.


At the outset of his career, renowned filmmakers made a note of his acting prowess in his debut Gangotri, which was followed by Arya that catapulted him to stardom and earned him Nandi Special Jury Award. As of now, Allu Arjun has been honoured with five Filmfare Awards South and three Nandi Awards. His films Race Gurram, Sarrainodu and Duvvada Jagannadham grossed over Rs 100 crore each. His films with Trivikram Srinivas such as Julayi, S/O Satyamurthy and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo grossed Rs 262 crore at the box office making history in Telugu cinema.
