Noted actor and filmmaker Manobala breathed his last on May 3 in Chennai. He died at the age of 69 at a private hospital. As per his publicist, Manobala was admitted to a hospital 10 days ago and was seeking the treatment for liver-related ailment but today his condition got worse and he succumbed to his illness. The tragic demise of Manobala has left Film Industry saddened as rich tributes are pouring in on social media.
South superstar Rajinikanth mourned the sad demise of his 'dear friend' Manobala. He tweeted in Tamil that says, “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of my dear friend Manobala, a famous director and actor. My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.” Producer G Dhananjayan also expressed his condolence and tweeted, “Shocking and it's unbelievable such a sweet person and a good friend Manobala sir passed away. Heartfelt condolences to the family. May his soul rest in peace (sic).”
Actor Gautham Karthik also paid tribute to the late actor and said it is heartbreaking to hear that Manobala is no longer with us. His tweet read, “Heartbreaking to hear that director/actor Manobala sir is no longer with us. Was a true pleasure to work with you sir! You will be surely missed! Condolences to family, friends and loved ones...”
For the unversed, Manobala began his career in 1979 as an assistant director with Bharathiraja’s Puthiya Vaarpugal. He ventured into direction in 1982 with Tamil film Aagaya Gangai. He directed the Hindi film ‘Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai’ starring Jeetendra, Pillai Nila, Sirai Parvai and Oorkavalan, Naina among others. He has acted in over 200 films. Manobala was last seen in Kajal Aggarwal starrer Tamil horror comedy Ghosty.
