There was a huge amount of guesswork going on about a change in the release date of Kollywood movies due to the upcoming Assembly Elections which is scheduled to happen in Tamil Nadu on April 6. Therefore release dates of few blockbuster movies like Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Doctor, Karthi-starrer  Sulthan and Dhanush-starrer ‘Karnan’were locked respectively on March 26, April 2, and April 9. There was an announcement also done informing the deferral of the Doctor a few days back. Then within the month, people started speculating on two other films that may get deferred and new dates may be announced.

Recently, SR Prabhu took to Twitter to reveal the same officially. The producer also urges people who are planning to watch the movie in theatres that they should wear masks and take other necessary precautions as there is a slight increase in the number of corona cases across the country. Prabhu captioned on his social media page as - “Many of our friends are asking whether we are releasing #Sulthan on 2nd April concerning Covid scenario. So far there is no change in that decision. We are sticking to the date! So pls Wear Mask, take proper precautions & wait to enjoy the max fun on screen. #JaiSulthan.
