The day Mani Ratnam fans had been waiting for finally arrived, as the makers of Ponniyin Selvan released the much-awaited trailer of the sequel. They dropped the trailer on Wednesday leaving the fans gushing about the director’s talent to bring forward the forgotten story of the world’s longest ruling Dynasty, the Chola empire. Starring celebrated actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Jatam Ravi and many more, the trailer is being showered with love and adoration from all the corners.
Not only does the PS-2 trailer give a glimpse of how the story of the sequel will unfold, but it also reveals that Ash will be playing a double role in the movie. From the grandeur of the sets to action-packed sequences, the tension in the trailer keeps on rising as discussions about splitting the Chola empire in half take place. ALSO READ: OMG! Fans have expressed their joy of the director bringing them the beautiful trailer. Many have also gone on to credit the actor’s for the strong performances. One wrote, “Literally goosebumps when she comes on screen. Rage in her eyes is marvellous , Nandini is character of century.” Another wrote, “karthi is not simply acting,he is just living in that character.” Other one wrote, “A R. The trailer was released by the makers in Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium on Wednesday night in the presence of the cast in attendance. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan, who has collaborated with Ratnam earlier, was present at the trailer launch as a special guest. The movie will be released on April 28, 2023.
For the unversed, both the Ponniyin Selvan movies are based on the successful book by the same name. Published in 1955, the books were written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
