Tamil actor Jiiva and his wife, Supriya, experienced a car accident on Wednesday evening while returning from Salem to Chennai. The incident took place near Kallakurichi in Tamil Nadu. Thankfully, despite the severity of the crash, both Jiiva and Supriya escaped without any significant injuries. According to a report by DT Next, the couple is safe and only the car sustained heavy damage.
Industry tracker Manobala confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), sharing visuals of the aftermath, including pictures of Jiiva’s blue car with a heavily damaged bonnet. In the video that surfaced online, Jiiva is seen attempting to call for help, visibly frustrated by a passerby who seemed to make an unhelpful comment. Reports suggest that the accident occurred around 3 pm on a highway near Kanimayoor village. Jiiva's car hit a meridian while trying to avoid crashing into a two-wheeler that was crossing the road. After the incident, Jiiva and his wife were taken to Chennai in another vehicle, and the actor later assured everyone that they were doing fine, confirming that neither of them sustained serious injuries.

Jiiva had been making headlines recently for his comments regarding the Justice K Hema Committee report. At an event, when asked about the report, which addresses issues related to the film industry, Jiiva remarked on the rise of the #MeToo movement. He expressed frustration at people openly naming abusers, stating that maintaining a healthy atmosphere in the cinema industry is crucial. When pressed further by a reporter, Jiiva lost his cool, reminding the press that their job is to report news, while actors aim to create a positive environment that brings smiles to people’s faces. He also controversially claimed that such issues do not occur in the Tamil film industry, implying they were more prominent in Kerala.
On the professional front, Jiiva will soon appear in the film Black, co-starring Priya Bhavani Shankar. His recent role as former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Yatra 2 has kept him in the spotlight. Jiiva is also set to star in upcoming films Methavi and Kannappa.
