Pop icon Rihanna drew international attention to the ongoing farmers’ protest in India, following which many other international public figures such as Lilly Singh, Jay Sean, Greta Thunberg also extended their support to the farmers. Many reacted sharply to this, saying that it is an internal matter. Celebrities such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Lata Mangeshkar, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn tweeted similar statements about the farmers’ protest with the hashtag ‘India against propaganda’ asking people not to fall for false propaganda and to support an amicable solution.
Now, Rang De Basanti actor Siddharth has criticized these celebrities and has asked people to choose their heroes wisely. He tweeted, “Choose your heroes wisely or watch them fall from grace. Education, empathy, honesty and a little spine could have saved the day. Alas.” In yet another tweet, he wrote, “When powerful people who never take a stand, all suddenly sing the same tune in an orchestrated effort and just tow the line they are told to like pawns, that's what propaganda is all about. Know your #propaganda. #farmersrprotest.”
“Human rights violations albeit by an elected government must be seen in the same vein as domestic violence or child abuse, and hence, can never be an internal matter. #FarmersProtest,” added Siddharth.

Meanwhile, Farah Khan Ali also wrote about the film fraternity’s almost identical tweets. “Disappointed with the fraternity tweeting identical tweets that make it more like a marketing gimmick. Whatever their reasons & I’m no one to judge at least u could have tried to make it more original. Now you have given yourselves away. Reel Life Heroes VS Real Life Heroes,” she wrote.
