It has been three years since Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen on the big screen. Her last project was Atul Manjrekar’s Fanney Khan, also featuring Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, where she portrayed the role of a singer named Baby Singh. Ever since then, there has been a lot of curiosity around Aishwarya’s next project.

So, when it was announced that the actress will be seen in the Tamil film Ponniyin Selvan, which is a dream project of its director Mani Ratnam that he has been working on for about three decades now, there was a wave of excitement amongst her fans. And recently, that excitement got doubled when a picture of the actress from the set of the film was leaked online and became viral on the internet. Take a look at the pic below:


The picture sees Aishwarya dressed in a red-ish saree, combined with some heavy jewellery and the actress looks royal as ever. The film will mark Aishwarya’s comeback to Tamil cinema after more than a decade. Her last Tamil film was Shankar’s Enthiran with Rajinikanth, which was dubbed as Robot in Hindi.

Ponniyin Selvan is an epic historical action-drama film and Mani Ratnam is directing, co-producing and has also co-written it. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel of the same name and boasts of an impressive ensemble cast that includes Vikram, Trisha, Aishwarya, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu and Sobhita Dhulipala. The film’s music is composed by the maestro himself, AR Rahman. The film is being made on a big-budget and will release in two parts, with the first part eyeing a 2022 release.
