Debutant film director Joseph Manu James left for his heavenly abode on February 25 at the age of 31. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Aluva in Kerala’s Ernakulam. His funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, February 26. According to the reports by India Today, the director, who has worked extensively in the Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi film industries as an assistant director, passed away due to hepatitis.
The media publication has reported that he was admitted to the Rajagiri hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia, however he died because of hepatitis. He was laid to rest at the Major Archiepiscopal Marth Mariam Archdeacon Church, Kuravilangad. The entire entertainment industry was left in shock at the news.
James passed away a few days before his Malayam directorial debut film Nancy Rani, could grace the big screens. For the unversed, the movie starring Ahaana Krishna and Arjun Ashokan, the movie reportedly wrapped-up the shoot and is in post-production. The film also stars Sunny Wayne, Aju Varghese, Lal, Druvan, Basil Joseph, and Vishak Nair, in pivotal roles.
The industry took to social media to mourn the loss of the talented filmmaker. Actor Aju Varghese took to his Instagram to share the director’s picture and write, “Gone too soon brother Prayers.” Ahaana had taken to her Insta story and written, “Rest in peace Manu! This shouldn't have happened to you!”
For the unaware, the late filmmaker was the son of James Jose and Sisily James. He made his debut in the entertainment industry, as a child actor with I am Curious (2004), which was directed by Sabu James. He is survived by his wife Naina, and siblings Minna and Philip.
