Malayalam superstar Mohanlal starrer Drishyam 2, will be premiering on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video, on February 19, 2021. While the first part had hit the silver screen in 2013, the sequel is finally making its way after seven years. Commenting on it director Jeethu Joseph during a press meet revealed that he did not want to mess with the hit film’s sequel. Also when he sent scripts for the sequel to his closed ones, they were not in favour of a sequel for Drishyam.
The director felt it was time to make the sequel in 2015, but on the contrary, the first part had an end, there was no chance for the sequel. He said, "It took 7 years because I thought of making a sequel in 2015 onwards before that I thought there was no chance for the second part. So many people were asking if there is a possibility of a sequel but I always said the story is finished and is the end of it."
Adding further he shared when people started to make sequels of this film on their own, then after 5 years, he decided to put pen to paper. "After 2 3 years, people started making sequel stories on their own so automatically one day Anthony asked me to try and said if it doesn't work, leave it. It took almost 5 years to come to this frame and the moment I said that I'm going to write this thing, my family said 'don't do it and destroy the same," added Jeethu Joseph.
The actor shared while the first part was the director’s challenge to build up characters, the challenge of the sequel is the story that will get the audience back to the story.
