The novel Coronavirus has made the environment inhospitable for more than a year now. Apart from affecting people, it is, unfortunately, taking people’s life. Speaking of which, much to everyone’s dismay, another renowned person from the entertainment industry succumbed to the virus and he was Kannada film producer and husband of superstar Malashree, Ramu. The film producer passed away at the age of 52. He died due to COVID-19. The news was revealed on Tuesday by Kannada Film Academy Chairman and close family friend, Sunil Puranik, who condoled his death.

“He was one of the rarest breeds of producers, who not only established their own identity but also ensured that their films run on their name. His films ran on his name rather than on the name of a hero, director or music director. His name attracted the audience to the theatres. As he dared to spend lavishly, 52-year-old Ramu had earned the sobriquet of 'Koti Ramu' (to denote that he spends lavishly on his movie-making),” he said to IANS. In his film career, Ramu had worked in popular movies like Simha, Arjun Gowda, AK 47, (1999), Lockup Death (1994), Kalasipalya (2004), and Ganga (2015).

After the sad demise news broke in, many poured in condolence messages. One of the producers in South, Baraju tweeted, “Sandalwood got to witness a shocking news on Monday evening as noted Kannada film producer Ramu succumbed to Covid-19. He was being treated at M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru, where he breathed his last. Ramu was married to Kannada film Star Malashree. They have two children.”

Yash’s KGF production house also spared a heartfelt tweet for him, “Condolences on passing away of Producer Ramu. Our prayers are with his family and well-wishers.  May we win the battle against #COVID19 soon!  #RIPRamuSir” While a South actor Harshika Pooncha tweeted, “Most passionate producer of our industry  Ramu sir has left us Pleading face Rest in Peace sir Please stop killing innocent lives #Covid” ALSO READ: Titli Actor Lalit Behl Passes Away Due To COVID-19; Sayani Gupta, Ranvir Shorey Pay Heartfelt Homage
