Pan-Indian movie Kantara became one of the biggest hits the Indian film industry has seen in 2022. The movie that starred filmmaker Rishab Shetty in the lead role became a household name. The audience unabashedly asked Bollywood filmmakers to take notes from their south counterparts. Well, along with success, the movie also garnered curiosity amongst the fans about its upcoming sequel.
After Rishab, producers Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda, founders of Hombale Films Productions to have confirmed that they are planning to make a sequel of the groundbreaking movie. During an interview with PTI, Kiragandur was quoted saying, “We definitely have plans for 'Kantara 2,' but there is no deadline.” ALSO READ: SHOCKING! Further adding, to their statement, during a recent media interaction, the producers shared that they will decide on how to take the franchise ahead after Rishab is back from his month-long break. They said, “We have a plan. We were busy with other things, and Rishab also took a month’s break. Once he is back, we will decide on our next step for the franchise.”
Vijay and Chaluve went on discuss the reason behind the success of their movies KGF and Kantara. They stressed on the fact that they are never in a hurry to tell stories. They take ample of time for the research and focus writing screenplays, no matter how much time it takes. They said, “If you take any of our screenplays, for example, KGF 1, we spent like three years on the script and, for Kantara, we worked on it for 6-8 months at the writing level. We always prioritise writers and directors who require time to produce a solid script. We give them adequate time to complete the draught. We're not in a hurry to get stories out. We begin working on production only when the story has been finalised. "Rather of producing something generic, we focus on delivering something distinctive.”
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the movie is produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films. While Shetty plays the lead in the movie, it also stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Tuminad, Naveen D Padil in pivotal roles. Apart from Kannada and Hindi, the movie was also released in Tamil, Malyalam, and Telugu. Set in coastal Karnataka, the movie deals with the issues of land politics and man vs. nature.
