Sonu Nigam’s recent concert did not go exactly as planned as the singer was attacked on the night of February 20 during a concert in Mumbai’s Chembur area. The concert turned into a nightmare for him and his fans as an MLA’s son Swapnil Prakash Phaterpekar attacked Nigam and his team for a selfie.
The altercation even led to Sonu Nigam’s friends getting hurt. While the singer and his team got into an ugly scuffle regarding a selfie from a fan, a video featured the musician confronting the perpetrators and not scurrying away.
Now a source close to the development has said, "Most celebrities don’t want to get involved in something unpleasant like this and leave it to their teams to tackle the situation. It was very heartening to see Sonu stand up for his team and confront the men in question. He even took his team members to the hospital and waited to complete the required police procedures. It's a rare thing to see these days."
The alleged incident conspired at the Chembur Gymkhana on Monday night as Phatarpekar allegedly pushed two of the singer’s friends from the staircase of the stage where Nigam was performing during a music festival at Mumbai’s Chembur area.
Singer Sonu Nigam filed a complaint against the offenders under IPC sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others), according to the police.
