St Xaviers High School, Thane, was buzzing with people yesterday. Reason? It was the venue for Shreya Ghoshal’s live in concert. Fans had gathered in large numbers to get a glimpse of their favourite singer.

The concert began at 7 pm with Shreya kick-starting it with Bajirao’s Mastani’s Mohe Rang Do Laal. The number was followed by a thunderous applause and the audience was roaring with requests.

While the singer was having a blast catering to fans, her close friend Harshdeep Kaur, of Zaalima fame, was hot under the collar. The incident goes thus.

Harshdeep turned up at the concert half-an-hour after it had already begun with her husband, Mankeet Singh, in tow. She being a close friend of Shreya’s had not bought a pass for the do and thus was stopped by the security upon entering. On being refused to get in, they insisted that they have come for Shreya but the officials did not budge. In a matter of minutes, the organisers were called in.

Said an eyewitness, "She insisted that Shreya was a close friend but the organisers did not budge and refused to let her in."

Mankeet somehow managed to contact Shreya’s team and narrated the incident, five minutes after which the couple was allowed to get in.

To talk of the concert, it was a roaring success. Shreya belted out one hit song after another such as Mera Kya Tu Lage (Special 26), Tere Mast Mast Do Nain (Dabangg), Main Tenu Samjhawan (Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania), Barso Re Megha (Guru) and Pinga (Bajirao Mastani) among others leaving the music buffs enthralled.

Unlike a lot of other singers, who very often lip sync while they on stage, Shreya was singing live and had her harkat in place.

Hiccups are a part of every concert and this one was no exception. During the concert, a random man (who looked drunk) stood right in front of the stage and requested Shreya to let him sing for her. Instead of being distressed, the singer took the request in her stride and said, "Aap mere saath gaiye." The security made sure that the man was not to be seen anywhere close to her throughout the concert.

Shreya also came across a technical glitch because of which the concert was halted for 15 minutes. Nonetheless, the singer made up for it by accepting song requests from the audiences. She ensured that the attendees sang along.

The singer even paid tribute to the times by gone by rendering melodious tracks such as Aap Ki Nazro Ne Samjha (Anpadh) and Lag Ja Gale (Woh Kaun Thi?).

Quite a night!
