One of the most
recognised faces from the indie music community in India, and an emerging TV
star with her appearances on The Stage and Khatron Ke Khiladi, Monica
Dogra is on cloud nine as she has launched her first commercial Hindi
cross-over track and it is sure to stay with you long after it has ended.
The
musician-actress has lent vocals for the remake of Naraye Mastana - originally
sung and released in 2003 by the legendary Sufi singer Abida Parveen.
Talking about her
first venture in Hindi, Monica told SpotboyE.com, “I am really excited and this
is one project that it very close to my heart as like most of us, even I am
ardent fan of Abidaji and I hear her every day.”
It was the label
(Times Music) that approached her to recreate the iconic number and
she wanted to recreate the whole track. “My version will have Monica's
signature musical style and is created for dance floors around the world,
mixing rap, trap and global bass drops on an infectious hook that will keep you
singing and grooving along,” she said.

Monica also
mentioned that singing Abida Parveen’s song was not a very big responsibility
as she was supposed to add her own flavour to the track. The song will also
have a video which will feature Monica and the team took almost a month to get
the track ready. “The song was actually shot within a day, but the editing took
a while and finished the song in a month,” elaborated Monica.
The music video,
shot in LA and produced by Marc Chenail who has worked with the likes of
Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears, features dancers that have starred in
La La Land and worked with Madonna, Justin Bieber, Mark Ronson, to name a few.
The video was launched on September 22.
