There is little
doubt that Jubin Nautiyal has carved a niche for himself in the music world
with hits like Tere Liye (Fitoor), Baawra Mann (Jolly LLB 2), Kaabil Hoon Main (Kaabil)
and Humma Humma (OK Jaanu) among
others to his credit.
Jubin was to add
a romantic number to his list, but fate had other plans. The singer had
recorded Baarish from Half Girlfriend and also gave interviews stating how
‘excited’ he was about the track.
“I am singing
Baarish from Half Girlfriend. Crooning a romantic song for a Mohit Suri film is
a big achievement because he is known for his ear for music,” he had said in
one of his interviews.

However, right
before the release of the song, a meeting with director Mohit Suri shocked the
singer.
Mohit informed
Jubin that he had been replaced and the song would now be sung by Ash King.
When contacted
Jubin confirmed the story and confessed that he is appalled at the development.
SpotboyE.com also
spoke to composer Tanishk Bagchi about the matter and he maintained, "We
had tried many singers for the song, but found Ash's voice complete for the
character."
We tried to get
in touch with Mohit, but he chose to not respond to our texts and calls.
Half Girlfriend
features Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles and isbased on Chetan
Bhagat’s novel of the same name.
Arjun essays the
role of Madhav Jha, a Bihari boy who meets Riya Somani (Shraddha), a dreamer,
at St Stephens College, Delhi. Despite polar opposite backgrounds they bond on
basketball and thus begin a relationship like no other.
