Singer Aditi Paul, who started her journey with Indian Idol, has given voice to the song Noodle Sa Dil in Varun Grover’s debut directorial project All India Rank. She sat with SpotboyE, for an exclusive chat and spoke about her experience and how they came up with the lyrics of the song. She also shed light on her admiration for his works and how she began her journey of becoming a singer despite her parent’s wish for her to choose a more established career path. Reminiscing that since she was young she always listened to songs by Rabindranath Tagore, she stated that even she is clueless about how and when she developed a liking for singing filmy songs.

Talking about how her Bollywood journey began, Paul explained that before gaining recognition for singing ‘Ang Laga De Re’ in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela, she sang a situational montage song for Ram Gopal Verma directorial Rann (2010). While recalling her experience of working with SLB, she went on to state that the filmmaker is an institution as he has extensive knowledge about filmmaking as well as music.


Aditi opens up about the thought process behind making a song like Noodle Sa Dil. She went on to explain that the makers of the film wanted to use Alisha Chinai’s famous song ‘Made In India’. Despite trying their level best to get the copyright, they did not get it which led Grover to create a new song. As a tribute to the 58-year-old singer and her genre of music. 

Shedding light on her fondness for the song Noodle Sa Dil, the singer stated that she likes quirky things. Explaining the perspective of the song, she shared that the story is based in the 90s and shows young love. She added, “Yeh joh pehele pyaar ka confusion hota hai na, kya karein, kya na karein. Woh to do or not to do waala confusion hai na, Noodle Sa Dil yeh word jab use karte ho na, toh woh sachmein behetareen hai. Woh bahut khoobsurat bhi hai aur tasty bhi.”

Aditi Paul also discussed the singers and composers that have inspired her throughout her music career. She went on to recall that Lata Mangeshkar’s iconic song Lag Jaa Gale was a reference she had gotten while preparing to record Ang Laga De Re in the Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer. She said, “Woh gaane mein brief tha ki ek longing chahiye par ek innocence chahiye. Reference ke taur par mujhe bataya gaya tha ki Lag Jaa Gale mein joh longing aur innocence hai, woh uss gaane mein laana.”
