After mesmerising audiences with the reprised version of Ikk Kudi (Udta Punjab, 2016), Diljit Dosanjh is all set to render vocals for his upcoming film Phillauri, which will see him paired opposite Anushka Sharma.

Diljit’s spokesperson confirmed the news and said, “The decision of Diljit crooning a number was taken a few days ago. He is yet to record the song. The track is a peppy romantic number and will have a video.

Says a source, “Diljit has proved his mettle both as a singer and actor. His reprised version of Ikk Kudi was well-received, hence, a promotional song by him could do wonders for the film. The number will be released a few days before Phillauri hits theatres.

A few days ago, the actor-singer was spotted at the audio wing of Yash Raj Studios in the wee hours with the Kala Chashma rapper Badshah. The latter took to Twitter and wrote, “Back in the studio after 4 years. @diljitdosanjh @Its_Badshah (sic).” However, he did not reveal the details of the song. Now, if the rumours doing the rounds are to be believed, the two are collaborating on a single.

The last time the duo worked together was for the chartbuster track Proper Patola in 2013. The single, composed by Badshah, received over one million hits on YouTube just within a fortnight of its release.

Considering the popularity of Proper Patola, we are sure Diljit-Badshah will weave magic, yet again.

Back to Phillauri, Diljit plays Anushka’s love interest in the film. The two actors are sharing screen space for the first time and we are sure the fresh pairing will definitely be welcomed by the viewers.

Phillauri, touted as a fun-filled romantic film is set in Phillaur (Punjab).
