Pakistani musician Haniya Aslam left for her heavenly abode on August 11, Sunday. She passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Her cousin and ex-musical partner Zebunnisa Bangash took to her official social media handle to confirm the heartbreaking news. For those who don’t know, Zeb and Haniya gained recognition after they worked together as a band from 2007 till 2014. They became a household name because of their performance on Coke Studio Pakistan and their song ‘Chal Diye’ is still loved by their fans.

Taking to her official Instagram handle, on August 12, Monday, Zeb honoured Haniya by sharing a few of their memories together and her unseen photos. She captioned the post, “Hanini 🎶✨♥️.” As soon as the post was published, fans rushed to the comment section of the post to express their condolences on the heartbreaking news. 

One wrote, “Aas wohi dil mai leye, iss aarzoo mai hum jiyen, tera haath thaam k, lo ham bhi chal diye… Rest in peace.” Another wrote, “What a shocking news. She brought so much beauty to this world with her music. Still remember watching the BTS of Chal Diye and she explaining that Jhol or the swing. She will be missed.” Musician Swanand Kirkire also expressed his shock. He wrote. “WTF … what happend ? OMG.” Another commented, “What!? This is a shock. Haniya is my guitar hero. Last night i was playing Bibi Sanam on guitar and appreciating the fabulous guitar she's played on it. I'm truly shattered to hear this. Lots of love to you and your family.”


For the unversed, hailing from Karachi, Haniya Aslam’s musical journey began with an education in the USA and the UK. After deciding to leave the duo Zeb-Haniya, in 2014, she relocated to Canada to pursue further studies. It was during her time there that she pursued her passion for music and built a solo career by honing her exceptional skills as a musician, producer, engineer, and composer.
