Replacements are not a novelty in Bollywood. Actors, singers, directors, technicians -- it happens to the best of them.
The latest example is that of singer Papon, who had recorded a romantic track with Palak Muchhal -- Dekha Hazaron Dafaa -- for Tinu Suresh Desai’s Rustom. However, in the eleventh hour, the producers decided that his voice does not suit Akshay Kumar, on whom the song is picturised.

And guess who stepped into Papon’s shoes? Apna Arijit Singh.
Confirming the news, a source close Papon said, “He recorded the song, but the producers suddenly felt that his voice does not suit Akshay. They then roped in Arijit Singh. When Papon got to know about it, he was extremely upset.”
The film, based on the real-life story of Commander K.M. Nanavati, who shot his wife Sylvia’s lover Prem Ahuja, also stars Arjan Bajwa, Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta in pivotal roles.
SpotboyE.com recently told you how, with Rustom, Akshay has managed to do what other Bollywood filmmakers have been trying for years. According to insiders, Neerja director Ram Madhvani had a well-researched script ready on similar lines and had even offered the lead role to Aamir Khan. But Aamir kept Madhvani on hold for an inordinately long time.
A couple of years ago, Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan was also all set to direct a film inspired by the Nanavati case, which would topline Arjun Rampal, but it fell through the cracks.
