Trouble times for singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya yet again.
Bollywood’s famous singer, who crooned maximum hits for Shah Rukh Khan in ‘90s,
has been booked by the Amboli police for outraging the modesty of a woman. The
singer allegedly used derogatory remarks as they both had an argument over the
phone. According to a report in Hindustan Times, a police officer (on the
condition of anonymity) revealed that the woman had an argument with the singer
over some drilling work being done in the society. She claims that she was
abused by him.
Police has registered a case and will be investigating the case
further. An FIR under section 509 (Word, gesture or act intended
to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of the Indian
Penal Code (IPC) has been filed, following the woman’s complaint.
An FIR Filed Against Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya For Abusing A Woman
The daily also spoke to Abhijeet who said, “She has been
threatening me and others to extort money. I have given a commercial place on
rent. My tenants were getting some work done, and she objected to it. Being the
owner of the place, I intervened in it.” Bhattacharya also accused the woman of
having an illegal extension on the second floor.
This is not the first time the singer has been caught in
a controversy where he has had a verbal spat with a woman. In October 2015,
Bhattacharya was booked by Oshiwara police for allegedly molesting and abusing
a 34-year-old woman at a Durga Puja pandal in Lokhandwala. As of now, in regards to this latest case, police is
gathering more evidence before taking any further action. Bhattacharya further
told the daily that he has not been contacted by the police yet.
