A young Amruta Fadnavis loved classical music but when the time came to pick a profession, she chose banking. Now, Amruta, who is the wife of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, is returning to her first love, singing.

She made her debut with Sab Dhan Maati, a number from the 2016 release Jai Gangaajal. Now Amruta has come up with a single Phir Se, which also features Amitabh Bachchan. In an interview with SpotboyE.com, the singer talks about her song, daily routine and much more. Excerpts:

Tell us about your single Phir Se?
Phir Se is a very beautiful song which is composed by Jeet Gannguliji. I also loved the concept of the video and for the head of the music academy, we could only come up with one name and that was Amitabh Bachchanji. Fortunately after reading the script he agreed to be featured in the video.

How long did you take to record the track?
Phir Se is a simple song but getting the emotions in place took a little time. But the recording happened in about 45 minutes.

How was it shooting with Amitabh Bachchan?
I had to enact my own song and I was quite confident until the time I saw Amitji. As soon as I saw him, I got nervous. But then he made me feel comfortable and this helped me regain my lost confidence. So while shooting, there is one scene where I am thinking something and suddenly he comes into the frame holds my hand and we twirl. Every time, he would step into the frame, out of respect, I would stand up. This continued for a couple of times and then he told me that I need to sit until he held my hand.

How do you manage your time when it comes to practising music every day?

My day is divided between taking care of my daughter, doing my riyaaz, attending social programs, addressing social issues then of course my bank. Thankfully with a prior permission I have reduced my banking hours. You got to prioritise and I practise for 45 minutes to an hour every day.

How was the experience of working with Jeet Gannguli?
It is always good to work with someone like Jeetda. He is such a great composer and weaves magic with his compositions.  I loved working with him.
You have crooned a few songs in Marathi which were classical numbers. But Phir Se is a peppy number.

So which genre of music do you enjoy the most?
I love all genres of music. I would love to keep experimenting when it comes to music because that is how you would grow.
You made your debut with Salim Sulaiman for Jai Gangaajal. Did you think ever think that you would get such a fabulous response for your songs?
I have been a classical singer since my childhood. I still train classically; I have always lent my vocals for social causes. But singing for Salim Sulaiman was a great opportunity for exploring Bollywood.

How did your daughter Divija react when she saw you dancing on-screen?
She loves the song and even dances on the tunes. I played the song for her immediately after I recorded the track which was a year ago.
