Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat a film that inspired a Bollywood remake Dhadak just turned 4! It was a blockbuster in the Marathi film industry that marked the acting debut of Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. Also, it is the first time a Marathi film which had earned more than 40 crores surpassing the lifetime earnings of such hits as 'Natsamrat', 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusali', 'Timepass 2' and 'Lai Bhaari'.
This love story is about a fisherman's son Prashya who falls in love with a local politician's daughter. Caught in the turbulence of caste differentiation and power play, they flee from the village to Hyderabad. The couple starts their life together and love wins against all odds. What makes it a compelling and gripping storyline is the raw and authentic display of emotions.
