Ratnakar Matkari was a famous writer, movie and play producer, director, and a self-taught artist of Marathi entertainment industry. He passed away late night on May 17 after being diagnosed with COVID-19. Mr. Matkari was 81 when he breathed his last. He was hospitalized for a routine check-up at Godrej Hospital and was shifted to Seven Hills Hospital once his COVID-19 test result came positive. He lost his battle to the deadly virus late night on May 17.
A writer with a versatile master of the art, he wrote many legendary pieces like Aranyak Lokakatha 78, Chaar Diwas Premache, Ghar Tighanche Hawe, and Indira. His children’s plays like Alabatya Galabatya and Nimma Shimma Rakshah are recently remade and running successfully. The writer’s work is truly immortal in Marathi literature. He started his journey at 16 and was undoubtedly one of the best till his final moments!
