Several Bollywood film actors have voiced their criticism against the decision to cut trees in Mumbai’s Aarey Colony area. And to join the latest is Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar who has also expressed her anger against these incident.

Sai took to her official Twitter account and tweeted, "जेवढी झाडं कापतायत तेवढीच परंत लावणार का ? #AareyForest #Helpless #SaveTrees."

Protestors had started demonstrating against the authorities’ move to start cutting trees in the area on Friday night to clear the space for a metro car shed, hours after the Bombay High Court rejected petitions against it. The police charged at protestors with batons even as many demonstrators camped outside Aarey through the night.

Many other celebrities like Subodh Bhave, Ravi Jadhav have also expressed their anger against this move by the government.

On the work front, Sai's last released film, 'Girlfriend' directed by Upendra Sidhaye did well on the box-office.

The Bombay High Court had on October 4 refused to declare Aarey Colony a forest and declined to quash a Mumbai Municipal decision to permit the cutting of the trees for the metro car shed. Restrictions under Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure was imposed in the Aarey area on Saturday.
