Irrfan Khan was larger than life actor who transformed the definition of a Bollywood hero! The way the audience perceived a hero has only begun to change in the B-town and Irrfan is one of the names responsible for this movement. When he made his debut in Salaam Bombay in 1988, Irrfan started breaking the stereotype. Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29 at a private hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted for colon infection.
The young and budding actors in the Marathi industry have a lot to learn from him. Hear it out from Irrfan’s co-stars how hard this grief has struck them for the loss of a mentor.
Mithila Palkar was mourning the loss of her co-star from Karwaan, she says, “Lost a gem. They don't make them like him anymore. It's extremely numbing. I have extremely fond memories of him and I'm very fortunate to have been blessed with the opportunity to work with him. May he rest in peace.”
Billu Barber co-star Marathi TV actress Mitali Mayekar, who played Irrfans’s (Billu’s) daughter 'Gunja' in the movie, mourned his death and also recollected memories of working with the star. Mitali mentions how Irrfan was a great mentor, “We all lost an incredible actor today. What a gem of a person he was! I was fortunate enough to spend a month of my life with him, get to know him. 'Baba' I used to call him because he played my father's role in the film and on the set too. Constantly looking after me, guiding me, playing with me, feeding me all kinds of snacks. I'm really glad for those days. A piece of my heart lies with you. Rest in peace Baba! You'll be missed always.#ripirrfankhan” reads her post.
Irrfan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor in 2018. He was hospitalized after a colon infection and with the break of noon yesterday, the news of his death hit the country.
