Avadhoot Gupte who is a singer and music director but most importantly he is a versatile personality. It is Avadhoot’s Birthday today and we tell you why he is the voice of contemporary Maharashtra.
Debuting in Marathi music with Paus, Gupte started his musical journey. Avadhoot participated in the Music competition Saregama, organized by TVS, won the championship, and this fame gave his career a great height. After this success, he started singing and making music for several Marathi and Hindi movies. With albums like Meri Madhubala, Jai Maharashtra, Halu Halu Chaal, he made his way in our hearts. To date, he has many songs to his name like Jabra fan, Rani Majhya Malya Mandi, Morya, Zenda, etc.
Avadhoot eventually became a judge to music shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, its season of Little Champions, Sur Nava Dhyas Nava and its Chote Surveer. His judging is very different and his remarks are encouraging for the participants.
Avadhoot is known for being candid, his friendships in the industry are also deep and widespread. His talk show Khupte Tithe Gupte gathered renowned celebrities as a guest. Avadhoot always had a passion for the silver screen, and this interest made him get into film making. How can a musical talent make a movie without making record-breaking music? Zenda (2010), was a political movie with a musical masterpiece. His second film Morya (2011) too was based on a socio-cultural issue having blockbuster tracks. Ek Tara, Jai Maharashtra Dhaba, Bhatinda, followed in a similar trend.
This is why Avadhoot is a voice for contemporary Maharashtra, not just with his exemplary singing and music composition but also because his films gave a voice to many issues that never found space on the silver screen. We wish Avadhoot a very rocking, ‘tod-fod’ birthday, Mitraaa!
