For Janhvi Kapoor, giving nutrition to her hair and face isn't something new, she's been doing this all since her childhood, through the natural remedies passed down from her mother Sridevi. She even said in an interview that “I put a lot of food in my hair—eggs, beer, and methi,” as her secret behind voluminous strands.

But eggs and beer are not everyone's cup of tea, her hair biio oil recipe is what anyone can try. She said, "My Mom makes our hair oil at home with dried flowers and amla, and she makes sure to give us oil massage every three days."  Amla, is rich source of antioxidant and rich in Vitamin C and is a perfect choice to your hair oil, specially when you want to have a stronger hair and a cleaner scalp.

Here are different ways in which you can use amla in your hair and skin DIY recipes.

1. For a hair growth
All you need to do is, heat up some almond oil in a bowl, and add fresh amla juice to it. With the help of your fingertips, massage it on to your scalp till it get absorb. Almonds are rich in Vitamin H, which synthesises biotin, important factor for building block of hair. Where Amla juice makes the hair shinier, softer and more voluminous.

2. Brightening paste for acne-prone skin
If you have acne prone skin, or the dark spots all over face, mix amla juice, honey and turmeric together in a bowl to get a soft paste. Amla lightens the dark spots and brightens the skin all over. Honey acts as an antioxidant that reduces inflammation, and calms down the redness and irritation from a just-popped zit, and curcumin.

3. Mask for flaky scalp
Amla's vitamin C content repairs the spilt ends of the strands, and strengthens hair follicles. Mix amla with yoghurt and apply it on to your scalp, the lactic acid present in yoghurt clear off all the dead cells and makes the hair look shinier.

4. A glowing face mask for a dull skin
If you are tired, and your skin is looking dull, all you need to do is, take a tomato and amla and make a paste, it will shrink the pores, and eradicate free radicals. When vitamin C is mixed with tomato it gives the skin even tone and accelerates collagen production too.
