Zee5’s latest offering Bombers is a sports drama which depicts a tragic event disturbing the entire balance of the football team and their glory. The plot begins with an unfortunate event. The whole team is travelling for a match and their bus meets with an accident. There are no survivors except Badol, the team’s captain.
You can say that this tragedy is inspired by a real-life incident wherein a plane crash leads to the shocking death of the entire team. Post this tragic event, Badol suffers anxiety and nightmares which is obvious given the situation. After the accident, West Bengal Urban Development Minister, Manik Dasgupta, decides to take over the clubs ground, because he aspires to build a real estate project on the land. So, the story is about how Badol builds a new Football team from scratch and how all of them together try to save the ground.
Speaking of the performances, well, the makers have carefully chosen all the characters. Varun Mitra as Badol does a decent job as the captain of the team. But his acting looks forced as a football player. Ranvir Shorey delivers an above average performance this time. Zakir Hussain brings his trademark acting skills and Anup Soni as the evil politician puts in a compelling performance. Prince Narula fails to charm us. As they say, too many cooks spoil the soup, we think that’s just the case here as there are too many things happening together which gets difficult to digest.
Overall, the show falls short of a goal. We don’t think it’s a no-no, but if the script was more powerful, the show would have turned out to be really well. If you have free time and don’t have any Football match to catch up on, then you can give this one, a go-ahead. However, we want to warn you that this football team is going to let you down.
Our verdict is Blahworthy!
